Job Description
Position Overview:
Provide database administration services in support of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySql and
PostgreSQL for enterprise and departmental applications. In collaboration with systems and application
administration, proactively monitor enterprise and departmental databases to include root cause analysis,
problem remediation, performance tuning, diagnostics, and capacity planning. Recommend process
improvements as appropriate.
Reports to:
Director - DKU Information Technology
Essential Duties:
Provide operational support and maintain documentation for development, test, production and
failover databases
Work with customer and vendors to remediate database problems.
Work with the project manager, application and systems support and/or development teams to
size and estimate projects and support tasks for purposes of capacity and resource planning.
Ensure monitored databases appropriately.
Ensure databases backed up successfully. Document and test backup and recovery techniques.
Participate in working groups with other teams and provide direction for database problems.
Duplicate production databases to create test or development databases for testing.
Database capacity planning.
Other tasks as assigned.

Qualification:
EDUCATION2
BA or BS in Computer Science or related field preferred), or an equivalent combination of
education and experience
5+ years of experience with Oracle.
2+ years of experience with Microsoft SQLServer and/or MySQL.
EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
Operational and production support of database used for an enterprise system such as
PeopleSoft (5 yrs.)
Database administration experience on Oracle.
Familiarity with UNIX operating systems, specifically RHEL and AIX.
Proficient with database, systems backup, and recovery techniques.
Excellent root cause analysis (troubleshooting) and problem remediation skills.
Microsoft Windows systems administration experience supporting enterprise and departmental
applications.
Experience administering Microsoft SQLServer, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL.
Experience in networked, multi-platform, and heterogeneous environment
Common PC and networked applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and Access)
